About me
Doug Smith is Superintendent of the Smackover-Norphlet School District, where he has led significant academic growth and district improvement. Prior to becoming superintendent, he served as principal at Parkers Chapel High School, where he was twice nominated for Arkansas Principal of the Year, as well as assistant principal at Camden Fairview and a high school football and baseball coach. Throughout his career, Doug has partnered with organizations including Solution Tree, The Bailey Group, and TNTP to develop practical, data-driven approaches to accelerating school improvement. He is a frequent presenter on topics such as school culture, Response to Intervention, and master scheduling. Under his leadership, the Smackover-Norphlet School District improved from a D to a B state accountability rating in its first year and continues to demonstrate exceptional student achievement through a strong, family-oriented culture and a steadfast commitment to five core pillars of excellence.
